Welcome to Henderson Baptist Church.
We are people just like you — neighbours, friends, and families learning to follow Jesus together, and believing that his kingdom is breaking into Henderson everyday.
Henderson Baptist began more than 75 years ago with a small group of people who believed God was at work in Henderson, and their legacy of faith continues to this day.

Who we are
We love the prayer Jesus taught his friends, and we believe it is immensely true for our neighbourhood: Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, in Henderson as it is in heaven.
We believe heaven is breaking into earth through His people, and that ordinary things — a shared meal, an open door, a gathered prayer — can become places where God's Kingdom shows up in our neighbourhood.
You will find that same rhythm woven through everything here. On Sundays we gather to worship, sharing communion together once a month. Regularly, we stay after the service to share a meal on Table Sunday, because we think the table is one of the most theological places there is. And beyond Sundays, we open our homes for Table Groups, carrying on the ancient practice of manaakitanga — generous, genuine hospitality — the way the early church did and the way Jesus modelled.
We picture ourselves as a regenerative forest. Roots growing deeper, new seedlings taking hold, and life springing up in ways only God can nurture. We are not a polished community, but we are a growing one — and there is room here for you.

Our Key Practices
WORSHIP
Its about Jesus, not us. We are deeply moved by the life of Jesus, His teaching, His radical and relentless love. We stand in awe of the cross and we celebrate His resurrection as the foundation of everything we do and hope for. It’s His story that has changed us so profoundly, so we are not primarily a social club, or service provider, but a community offering our lives back to God; so prayer, scripture and service are core to our life together.
DISCIPLESHIP
Every Christian journey begins with the same invitation Jesus has always offered — follow me. In a world obsessed with quick results and outward appearances, we are committed to something slower and deeper: genuine formation, real character, and lives that grow into the likeness of Jesus from the inside out.
MISSION
God is not sitting passively in heaven — he is actively at work in Henderson and beyond, humbling the proud and lifting the lowly, and inviting his people to join him. We want to be where Jesus is, so we show up in our neighbourhood through humble service, open homes, and a table where everyone belongs.
COMMUNITY
In a world that pulls us toward isolation, faith was never meant to be a solo journey. God calls us into family — messy, real, and life-giving — because we genuinely need one another. So we prioritise relationships over programmes, and we work hard to be a community where people are known, loved, and following Jesus together.
